Comparing sportive and combative fencing

Join us as we explore the difference between practising martial arts for sport and to train for combat. This seminar will look at how fencing is practised for combat and how that differs from being done for sport.
For the seminar we will be joined by Paul Kurtyka. Paul has practised both modern Olympic fencing and traditional Polish sabre for many years. He has a long and impressive record competing in modern epee competitions and has repeatedly won bronze at both national and international competitions. A full breakdown of his achievements can be found at https://www.ausfencing.org/biography/afb-1551/
Likewise Paul has practised traditional Polish sabre fencing based on treatise of Count Michal Starzewski and work done by multiple Olympian and world champion Wojciech Zablocki (mainly in his work Analysis of Fencing Movements).
