Comparing HEMA & Japanese Swordsmanship

Join us as we compare the practice of Historical European Martial Arts with the art of Japanese Swordsmanship.
For this seminar we’ll be joined by Mat Rous from the Kuroyama Dojo.
Mat is the NSW Chief Instructor teaching Nakamura Ryu Battodo at Kuroyama Dojo in Sydney. He was granted Renshi Certification at the Hombu Dojo in Yokohama in 2019, and is a Godan (5th Dan) and has been practising Nakamura Ryu Battodo since 2002.
Nakamura Ryu Battodo has single, partner and sword vs spear forms with a heavy emphasis on Tameshigiri.
Mat also occasionally spars with HEMA groups in Sydney (not as often as he’d like to but the experience is always educational). He also practices Kyudo as a beginner.
